Make It Fit / Working with a Commercial Pattern with Catherine Petrosino

This workshop is for you if you are making your own clothes, but the end product still doesn’t fit correctly. We will explore what to look for in relation to the fit of a garment, such as sizing, balance and proportion. Each student must bring garments (or muslins) that they have made from a commercial pattern that doesn't fit correctly. You will try your garment on in class and we will discuss how it needs to be adjusted for a perfect fit. You will then learn how to make those adjustments to the pattern, so that you can confidently make a garment from that pattern. This is a small class of only 4 students. Materials needed:
- Sewing machine in good working order w/ accessories / power cord and foot pedal
- Basic sewing tools: pins, tailor’s chalk, seam ripper, scissors, tape measure, etc
- 2 or more already made garments (or muslins) and the patterns that you made them from
- 2" x 18" C thru ruler
- Fashion design ruler
- Pencil
- Pattern paper of your choice
