Hemming & Fitting Basics for Bottoms with Heidi Loftus

Perfect for beginners/advanced beginners and sewing enthusiasts looking to build practical alteration skills. In this small-group class (maximum 6 students), participants will learn how to properly measure, fit, and shorten skirts, pants, or other bottoms for a professional-looking finish.
Bring 2-3 garments that need hemming, and learn a variety of techniques including machine hemming, blind hems, and hand-finishing methods. Students will gain confidence in assessing fit, marking alterations, and selecting the best hemming technique for different fabrics and garment styles.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a completed alteration and the skills to tackle future hemming projects at home.
Students who sign up for this class need to know how to thread and operate a sewing machine.
Materials needed:
- Sewing Machine in good working condition
- Threads matching the garments you will bring to be altered in class
- Basic sewing tools - pins, clips, fabric marker, snips, tape measure, ruler etc)
