Fearless Foundation Piecing with Susan Louis

Take the fear out of foundation piecing, a method where fabric is sewn directly onto paper allowing one to accurately sew intricate patterns, sharp points and complex shapes. Many of these patterns would be difficult to piece using traditional piecing methods.

In this class you will have enough material to make a lovely pillow. Later on, if you feel ambitious you may use this as the start of a larger piece.

Materials you will need:

• Sewing machine in good working condition and a quarter inch foot
• Neutral color thread
• Seam Ripper
• 1/4" ruler or small ruler with clear markings of 1/4"
• Pad and pencil for note taking
• 2 sets of 16 pcs of 6" squares (Total of 32 pcs of 6" squares)
  • 1 set of 1 color SOLID fabric
  • 1 set of assorted prints of fabric 
• Extra fabric to compensate for mistakes
• 1 yard fabric for backing
• 12", 14" or 16" pillow form depending on if you want to add borders
