Beginner Garment Sewing - The Scout Tee with Catherine Petrosino

You’ve taken our Machine Basics 101 class, Garment Sewing Prep Workshop or have sewn in the past and now you are ready to make your first garment. In this all day workshop, you will be making The Scout Tee by Grainline Studio, which is perfect for the beginner sewist. This top comes in 2 size sets (0-18) or (14-32), so please be certain to purchase the correct size set. If you have any questions about the class, please email Catherine@sewright.com in advance.

You will learn how to:

• Choose your correct size
• Prepare the pattern pieces and fabric for cutting
• Understand cutting layouts
• Read pattern instructions
• Set in a sleeve
• Finish seams
• Finish the neckline with bias binding
• Topstitching
• Hemming

Materials needed:

• Sewing machine in good working order 
• Basic sewing notions: chalk, scissors, pins, tape measure etc
• 1 spool of all purpose polyester thread
• The Scout Tee pattern by Grainline Studio
• Light to medium weight woven fabric such as cotton, cotton lawn or linen. See yardage on pattern based on fabric width and your size. Extra yardage may be needed for directional prints or plaids.
