You’ve taken our Machine Basics 101 class or have sewn in the past and now you are ready to make your first garment. In this all day workshop, you will be making The Fiore Skirt by Closet Core Patterns (View A), which is perfect for the beginner sewist. This skirt comes in 2 size sets (0 - 20) or (14 - 32), so please be certain to purchase the correct size set. If you have any questions about the class, please email Catherine@sewright.com in advance. Since this is an all day workshop, we will be taking a half hour lunch break, so bring your own lunch or grab something to go nearby.
You will learn how to:
- Choose the correct size
- Prepare the pattern pieces and fabric for cutting
- Understand cutting layouts
- Read pattern instructions
- Finish seams
- Set in a waistband
- Insert an invisible zipper (you will need a special invisible zipper foot for your machine)
- Hemming
What you'll need:
- Sewing machine in good working order w/ accessories / power cord and foot pedal
- Basic sewing notions, scissors, tailor's chalk, pins, tape measure, seam ripper
- One spool of all-purpose polyester thread
- The Fiore Skirt pattern by Closet Core Patterns
- 7” invisible zipper
- Crisp woven fabrics like linen, chambray, denim, twill, poplin or structured cottons. See yardage needed for View A based on fabric width and your size. Wash and dry your fabric before class.
- 1 1/4 yds woven lightweight fusible interfacing (Pellon SF101)
