Beginner Garment Sewing - The Cielo Top with Catherine Petrosino

You’ve taken one of our Beginner Sewing classes and are ready to advance your sewing skills in this workshop. You will be making The Cielo Top (View A) from Closet Core Patterns. This top comes in 2 size sets (0-20) or (14 -32), so please be certain to purchase the correct size set. If you have any questions about the class, please email Catherine at brooklynstitchery@gmail.com in advance. Since this is an all day workshop, we will be taking a half hour lunch break, so bring your own lunch or grab something to go nearby.

You will learn how to:

• choose the correct size
• prepare the fabric and pattern pieces for cutting
• set in a sleeve
• sewing a dart
• finishing a neckline with a facing
• seam finishing
• hemming
• topstitching

Materials needed:

• Sewing machine in good working order w/ accessories
• Basic sewing notions, scissors, chalk, pins, tape measure, seam ripper
• One spool of all purpose polyester thread
• The Cielo Top pattern by Closet Core Patterns
• Light to medium weight woven fabric such as linen, chambray or cotton shirtings. See yardage needed for View A based on fabric width and your size
• 1/4 yds woven lightweight fusible interfacing (Pellon SF101)
