Advanced Beginner Garment Sewing - The Sepia Pants with Catherine Petrosino
Duration: 4.5 hrs each session (total of 9 hours)
Sessions: 2 (September 11 & 18)
You’ve taken one of our Beginner Garment Sewing Workshop and are ready to advance your sewing skills in this workshop. You will be making The Sepia Pant (View A or B) from Closet Core Patterns. This pant comes in 2 size sets (0-20) or (14 -32), so please be certain to purchase the correct size set. This workshop is split into 2 - 4 1/2 hour sessions with a 1/2 hour break, and there will be homework in order to finish the pant within the allotted class time. You will learn how to:
- choose the correct size
- prepare the fabric and pattern pieces for cutting
- how to read pattern instructions
- sew pockets
- sew buttonholes
- add elastic to a waistband
- topstitching
- darts (View A only)
- sew facings
- hemming (View B)
Materials you will need:
- sewing machine in good working order w/ accessories
- basic sewing notions, scissors, chalk, pins, tape measure, seam ripper
- one spool of all purpose polyester thread
- The Sepia Pant Pattern by Closet Core Patterns
- Light to midweight linen, cotton chambray or broadcloth OR Lightweight denim, twill, and canvas (under 10 oz) See Fabric Requirements for yardage based on your size and width of fabric
- elastic for waistband, 1.5" (38 mm) wide (see Fabric Requirements for amount)
- lightweight fusible interfacing, 1/2 yd for 20” wide interfacing
