Sew Smart Teens Lab –Pieced and Quilted Zipper Pouch with Laurie Alice

Don’t be afraid of zippers! Let Laurie Alice show you how to stitch together smaller pieces of fabric to create a unique pouch, complete with a zipper. You will also learn how to “box the corners” to create volume inside, utilize fusible interfacing or fleece, install a lining, and top-stitch the exterior to create your one-of-a-kind pouch.
In this two-session workshop, you will learn how to: follow written instructions, measure and cut fabric, stitch together smaller squares of fabric to create a larger piece of fabric, install a contrasting colored lining, box the corners, and install a zipper. Laurie Alice will share various tips to ensure your zippered pouch turns out beautifully! This will be the perfect pouch to keep your sewing notions handy. A wide selection of fabrics will be available for you to choose from to make this project uniquely yours!

Use of Sew Right Sewing Machines

Kit with a wide variety of woven cotton fabrics for you to combine and create your own look

Fusible interfacing and or fusible fleece

Zipper

Bring from home:

A spool of light-colored thread (white, tan, yellow, or pale pink)

A spool of dark colored thread (black, purple, navy or red)

Seam ripper

Pins or fabric clips

Fabric scissors

Small scissors or snips

NOTE: If you bring your own machine from home, be sure it is in working order and also bring the power cord, foot pedal, standard presser foot and zipper foot
